Donate Books - ISLAND's library is growing by a dozen or so titles a week - a pretty solid pace for a library that has about a $20/month budget. Your books can help - donate any new or used paperbacks, hardcovers, magazine subscriptions, pamphlets, brochures, CDs or DVDs! These books do not have to be in line with our mission - they can be romances, westerns, mysteries, cookbooks, or old college textbooks - anything that has a front cover and is in reasonably good condition (even light highlighting or scribbled notes are ok).
We either sell these books on eBay (not very often) or trade them on Paperback Swap for books we can use! If you want to buy books to donate, or just get a sense of what we're looking for, here's our book wish list: [doc] [pdf].
Join Paperback Swap - and use brad_kik [at] yahoo [dot] com as a referring member - we'll get three free credits to spend on books for the library (so do you)!
What Have You Got? - Old windows and doors? Building materials? We can always use new or used tools - good hand tools and functional power tools. Trading up? Get a tax-deduction for that old lathe or planer. How about an old (but running) diesel Suburban? We can ask, can't we? Here's a link to our short (but growing!) wish list.
Art & Craft - Give a painting, a piece of pottery, a CD from your favorite local musician or a poem. Send us a sketch (or sketchbook!), a cool pint glass, a woodcarving or a ship in a bottle. It's indescribably nice to receive a random piece of something great in the mail, and every piece will find a home in our upcoming residency program.
Other Kinds of Money - We gladly accept Bay Bucks, gift certificates, offers of service, sellable items, etc. We're flexible and happy to work with you to craft a gift to our program. Contact us!
If you have an interest in donating in any of these ways, please contact us for more information. Thank you!

Three ways to work with our library
Give your books to ISLAND, to do with what we will (keep for the library, sell to raise money, trade for other books or give away)
Loan your books to ISLAND, to be used in the library; if we can't use them, we'll give them back.
With your permission, we will tag them (with a sticker) and place a dewey sticker on their spine. Every book loaned by you will carry your name and will be listed seperately in our database.
We ask that you agree to loan your books for a minimum term of one year.
Trust your books to ISLAND, as a gift for our library. This is different from the first option in that we will promise not to sell or trade your books. We will approve by the book, by the case, or by the collection.
This is a great way to ensure that your favorite books will continue to be available to the community after you are done with them.
